Private Voice Lessons

The missing piece isn't generic advice.
It's targeted instruction.

Most singers have tried the YouTube videos, the tips, the courses. The problem was never effort. It was that nobody listened to them specifically and identified what was actually breaking down.

Why Most Singers Stay Stuck

More exercises isn't the answer.
Finding the root cause is.

I've worked with singers at every level — beginners afraid to sing in front of anyone, experienced vocalists who've hit a ceiling they can't break through. The pattern is always the same: there are specific skills that aren't working, and nobody has shown them what "right" actually feels like.

Generic training throws exercises at you without identifying which skill is failing first. You practice scales for months and still crack on the same notes — because the problem was never diagnosed.

The Better Vocals Method

Every skill. Its own track. Four phases.

We don't work on everything at once. Each identified weakness becomes a named skill — and every skill runs independently through the same four-phase progression. You might be in Phase 3 of breath support while still in Phase 1 of cord closure. Progress is a map, not a single score.

Before the phases — The Assessment

Identify exactly what's broken and in what order to fix it

Your first lesson is a diagnostic, not a workout. I listen, observe, and name the specific technical weaknesses holding your voice back — a high larynx, false cord engagement, weak breath support, poor cord closure. Each one becomes a concrete, targetable skill. The assessment tells us which skills enter the training pipeline first. Without it, we'd be guessing.

01

Discovery

Feel what 'right' actually is

Before you can do something correctly, you have to feel what correct is. Phase 1 isn't about doing it right — it's about probing until you have that moment of 'oh, that's what it's supposed to feel like.' That physical awareness is the foundation everything else builds on.

02

Stabilize

Reproduce it in controlled conditions

Can you reproduce that sensation? We strip complexity to almost nothing: speaking, then one note, then a scale, then an arpeggio, then a song phrase. Each rung is only slightly harder than the last. If you break, we know exactly where your limit is — and we fix it there before going higher.

03

Consistency

Own it across vowels and registers

A skill that only works on one vowel isn't a skill — it's a fluke. Phase 3 stress-tests the technique across all vowels, chest and head voice, and real song passages. This is where we find out if you truly own the skill or only borrow it under specific conditions.

04

Mastery

Make it automatic and permanent

The skill becomes part of who you are as a singer — holding under performance pressure, working in new songs, self-correcting when it slips. Mastery isn't drilled in a lesson. It's earned through practice. We don't camp here; we revisit and verify.

Why This Method Works

It's not a framework someone invented.
It's how humans learn any skill.

The Four Stages of Competence is a documented model of skill acquisition used across education, athletics, and professional training. Every skill a human develops moves through the same arc. The Better Vocals Method is the vocal-training expression of that arc — nothing skipped, nothing forced.

Unconscious Incompetence

Before the Assessment

You don't know what's broken. You feel something is off, but you can't name it. You just know you sound bad sometimes.

Conscious Incompetence

The Assessment → Phase 1

You now know exactly what's broken. Then Phase 1 deepens it — you know what you can't do yet, and for the first time you also know what correct feels like in your body. The gap is visible. That means it's trainable.

Conscious Competence

Phase 2 → Phase 3

Phase 2: you can reproduce the skill, but only with full attention in simplified contexts. Phase 3: you can produce it across vowels, registers, and real songs — still actively managing it, but reliable. This is the "I can do it if I focus" stage.

Unconscious Competence

Phase 4 — Mastery

The skill happens without thought. It survives new songs, performance pressure, and distraction. You self-correct when it slips because the correct pattern has become the default. You can't drill someone here — only practice over time converts Phase 3 into Phase 4.

Every phase has a clear exit criterion. At any moment we can name exactly where a skill is on the map — and what the next step looks like.

FAQ

Common questions

Do I need any experience to start?

None. Your first lesson is always an assessment — I meet you exactly where you are. Complete beginners and experienced vocalists both benefit from getting a clear picture of where they actually are.

Do we work on everything at once?

No — and that's intentional. Each weakness identified in your assessment becomes a separate skill with its own place in the progression. You might be in Phase 3 of breath support and Phase 1 of cord closure at the same time. Trying to fix everything simultaneously produces weak results across the board. We stabilize each skill individually and let them integrate naturally once they're solid.

What do I need for the lesson?

A device with a camera and microphone, a stable internet connection, and a quiet space. Google Meet is free and no download is required.

How often should I take lessons?

Weekly is ideal for steady progress. But even biweekly lessons produce real results when you're practicing between sessions — which is why WhatsApp access is included for every student.

What if I buy the 8-pack — do sessions expire?

No expiration. Use your sessions at whatever pace works for you. Life happens and I'm not going to penalize you for it.

What kind of singing do you teach?

The core mechanics we work on — breath support, resonance, larynx position, soft palate, mix — apply to every style. I primarily teach contemporary/pop technique, but the fundamentals transfer.
